To promote interaction between police and the community, to facilitate an alliance between citizens and the police in developing strategies to address crime, and to better address quality of life issues in the neighborhoods, Sycamore Township initiated the Neighborhood Liaison Officer program with the Hamilton County Sheriffs Department in ??.
Corporal Kristi Fritz has been designated as the "Neighborhood Liaison Officer" (NLO) to interact with the community on issues involving crime or quality of life. The responsibilities of the NLO are to respond to calls from citizens or citizen groups and to offer assistance, advice, or direction on their concerns. The NLO may be called upon to attend neighborhood meetings as requested, and to act as an ombudsman. The Officer will work with citizen groups to solve problems or organize programs that will address their concerns. On non-law enforcement issues, the NLO may make referrals to other city, county, or state agencies where necessary. The NLO may be called upon to make contact with involved citizens in order to develop information on reported crimes in their areas, and to relay that information to investigating officers.
