Microsurfacing is the second and final phase of the Township’s cape seal treatment. It provides the finished roadway surface, seals and protects the existing pavement, and helps extend the useful life of the roadway.
Work will proceed according to the schedule and order of streets (link below). During microsurfacing, certain streets will need to be temporarily closed to traffic while the material is applied and allowed to cure. Vehicle and driveway access may be temporarily restricted until the contractor removes the barricades and traffic cones.
Residents on a street that is temporarily closed may park on nearby adjacent streets that are not posted with “No Parking” signs and are not actively being resurfaced. Traffic will be maintained throughout the surrounding neighborhood, and signs, barricades, and traffic-control personnel will help direct motorists to open streets and available routes around the active work area. Emergency vehicles will continue to have access at all times.
To help the project proceed safely and efficiently, residents are asked to:
• Remove vehicles from the street during posted “No Parking” periods.
• Follow all construction signs, barricades, and instructions from traffic-control personnel.
• Turn off sprinkler and irrigation systems on scheduled workdays.
• Keep children and pets away from construction equipment and active work areas.
• Reschedule deliveries, lawn services, and other activities when work is occurring on their street.
• Avoid sharp turns, sudden stops, or twisting tires on the newly treated roadway.
• Avoid parking on the new surface for at least 16 hours after the roadway reopens, unless otherwise directed.
Because the work is weather-dependent, the schedule may change due to rain or unsuitable conditions. Sycamore Township and the contractor will make every reasonable effort to minimize inconvenience and complete the improvements as safely and efficiently as possible.
