The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Sycamore Township hosts a National Day of Prayer event annually, inviting clergy from local churches and synagogues to lead us in prayer for our nation, federal, state and local governments, the military and our community. Sycamore Township offers a scheduled monthly Brush Chipping Program for residents, providing residents the opportunity to drop off tree and brush trimmings behind the Township Administration Building free of charge for the recycling of wood chips and mulch. Residents are asked to bring their brush and limbs to the rear of the Township Administration building where maintenance personnel will assist in the unloading and chipping of the material. This program normally runs the first Saturday of each month from April through December.
